Dorothy C. Mitchell, 92 of Jackson Township., formally of Navarre, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, August 8, 2009 at her home. She was born on August 6, 1917 in Navarre the daughter of the late Wilford and Sarah Hodgson. Dorothy worked for Nickels Bakery as a receptionist for many years before retiring in 1977. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Navarre. She will be remembered for always caring for other peoples needs. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd O. Mitchell; her daughter, Virginia Klick; her grandson, James Dean Mitchell II; her great-grandson, Justin Mitchell; and her brothers, Donald and Glendale Hodgson. She is survived by her son, James “Jim” Mitchell of Navarre; her grandchildren, Kathi (Jeff) Meek of Jackson Twp., Debbie (Jeff) Dingler of Massillon, Connie (Bob) Bush of Charleston, SC, Megan and Ashlee Mitchell of Navarre; and her granddaughter-in-law Jean Mitchell of Jackson Twp.; 10 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren; her special friends, Ruth Wootton and Mrs. Jean Daly. Her family extends a warm thank you to her care taker Ronetta. A Celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held on Friday, August 14, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Rev. Elaine Tullis of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 11-1 P.M. Burial will follow at Union Lawn Cemetery in Navarre.
