Dorothy C. Keller

February 6, 1918 — October 6, 2008

Dorothy Caroline Keller, 90, of Tuscarawas Township, quietly went home to meet her Lord on Monday, October 6th, following a brief illness. She was born on the old Messner farm near Orrville, Ohio on February 6, 1918 to the late William A. and Phoebe (Deich) Neiss. She attended school in Dalton and went on to work at the Eaton Corporation in Massillon, where she met her beloved husband Ted, in 1936. Dorothy and Theodore R. Keller were married on September 21, 1940, by the Reverend Harvey Stoner of Beech Grove. Together they worked on the Neiss farm outside Dalton and started their family. They and their three children moved to the Tuslaw area in 1957. By the late 1960's, Dorothy went to work for the Ideal Dairy in Massillon so that her eldest son could fly home on leaves from the Navy. She was a member of Sixteen St. John's Church, North Lawrence, where she had served as Sunday School secretary and treasurer, and as a member of the Women's Guild. She and her husband also worked tirelessly with the Tuslaw Band Parents during the early days of the Tuslaw Lions Club Festival. Dorothy was also known for her great down home meals, bountiful gardens each year, and her passion for lawn mowing that she performed twice weekly even into her eighties. Her most recent hobbies were reading and watching Cleveland Indian ballgames. Dorothy is survived by her children: Donna Mae Keller, of the home; sons, Robert L. (Elaine) Keller and Ronald D. (Sandra) Keller, both of Massillon; grandchildren, Heather (Brent) Jones, of Reading, Kansas; Shannon Keller, of Cincinnati; Joshua (Laura) Keller, of Canton; Tiffany (Andrew) Cocklin, of Massillon; Tana Keller, of Erie, PA; and Zebulon Keller, of Akron. Also, great-grandchildren: Hannah and Robert Jones, and Lincoln Cocklin. She leaves behind sister-in-Iaws, Mary Neiss , of Dalton; Mary Ellen Neiss, of Orrville; a brother-in-law, Clifford L. Keller of Massillon; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death in July, was her devoted husband, Ted, after seventy-two wonderful years together. In addition to her parents, those who went on before them were: their infant daughter, Diana Marie; sisters, Rose C.(Walter)Legrom and Pearl (Robert) Reed; brothers, Fred (Edna) Levengood, Edward (Margaret) Smith, Harry Neiss, John W. Neiss, Arthur (Ruth) Neiss, and Earl Neiss.
