Dorothy Bresson Hoffner age 94 of Massillon passed away Saturday March 20th at the Canton Regency where she made her home for the past 18 months.. Dorothy was born March 17, 1916 in Sheffield, OH (Ashtabula County) to the late Relly Ray & Susan (Kolling) Carter. The Carters passed away when Dorothy was very young and she was raised by the late Cory & Hazel Terrell of Ashtabula. Her first job out of high school was with the local phone company as an operator. On September 20, 1941 she married Ersel J. Bresson, who passed away in 1976. Dorothy was employed at the M. O’Neil Co. in Massillon, the Harter Bank and retired from the Key Bank. Dorothy was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and had help with the soup kitchen at the K of C for many years. In 1984 she married Robert Hoffner and he passed away in 2000. In addition to her parents, two husbands she is the last of five sisters: Marian Carter, Nellie Crago, Lou Walter and Nora Crawford all of the Youngstown area. Dorothy is survived by her daughter Susan Bresson Means, her grandson Doug (Traci) Means, granddaughter Diane (Jeff) Kiko, great grandchildren; Alec, Noah, Jadon, Emma and Benjamin whom she loved and enjoyed. Dorothy’s funeral service will be 11 AM Wednesday at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon, a long time friend of the family, Fr. Robert Kaylor will officiate. Her final resting place will be Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call Wednesday from 10 AM until the service at the funeral home.
