Doris R. (Boker) Owen, 82 Passed away on Saturday, November 1, at the Laurels of Massillon following a lengthy illness. Her family was at her side. Doris was born on September 27, 1926, to William and Esther Boker in Genoa (now Perry Township). She had three older siblings: Warren H. Boker, Karl A. Boker, and Norma E. (Boker) Ertle. She was a 1945 graduate of Jackson High School. She had worked at the War Rationing Board, S.S. Kreske, Diebold, and St. Regis Paper. She retired in 1993 from the Massillon Kmart after 17 years of service. Married to Robert E. Owen in April 1954; they had 36 years together until his sudden death in 1990. Also preceded in death by her parents and brothers; and her husband’s parents and siblings, whom she dearly loved. She is survived by her loving and grateful children: Roberta A. Reese (Gary) and Scott A. Owen., both of Massillon; her sister and dearest friend, Norma Ertle, grandsons Michael L. (Cheri) Reese of North Dakota, and David P. Reese (Ft. Lewis, WA), several great-grandchildren; step-daughter, Barbara; numerous nieces and nephews; and friend of the family, Gladys Meek. She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ. Calling hours will be held on from 6:00-8:00 pm, Wednesday, November 5, at the Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home. The funeral service will take place at the Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home on Thursday, November 6 at 11:00 A.M. with Dr. David Kimberly officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
