Doris Mae Altland, 94, of Massillon, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family, on March 3, 2023. She was born on April 7, 1928, to the late Ralph and Emma (Hofacre) Adams in East Greenville, OH. She was a 1946 graduate of Washington High School. She married DeVer Altland on June 24, 1948, sharing 57 years together until his passing in 2005.
Doris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and Nana, who loved her family. She was a longtime member of Epworth United Methodist Church, where she was actively involved. Doris enjoyed sewing, playing cards games and especially Euchre, and going for rides. She enjoyed spending her winters in Florida and her summers at the family cottage on Lake Erie. Doris was a member of the Couples Club, friends from high school for over 50 years. She was know known for her beautiful and caring personality and will be remembered for her thoughtfulness.
Doris is survived by her loving daughters, Sandy Hannan, Randi L. (Monty) McFadden and Deborah K. (Mike) Parker ; devoted and long-time companion Ron Moore; her grandchildren Rebecca (Sam) Studer, Stevie McFadden, Trent (Christi) McFadden, Adam (Mandy) Parker, Julianne Crable; great-grandchildren Jett Hannan, Jaxyn Hannan, Jase Hannan, Emma Bachtel, Jack Bachtel, Reese Bachtel, Hannah Studer, Eva Studer, Ashley McFadden, Bowen McFadden, Jay Crable, Tayten Crable, Kysen Crable, Zynova Parker; step granddaughter Nyla Crable; her sister Ruth Stutzman and a host of family and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Doris was preceded in death by her daughter, Judy Lynn Altland; her brother, Ralph Adams; her grandsons, Ryan Hannan and Reid Hannan.
A Celebration of her life will be held at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at 7:00PM. Pastor Linda Slutz, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5p.m. until the time of the service. Donations in Doris' memory can be made to the WHS - Ryan C.
