Doris I. Blackstone

Doris I. (Wascherle) Blackstone, age 82 of North Canton, died on Monday, January 5, 2009 at Affinity Medical Center in Massillon. She was born on September 4, 1926 in Massillon to the late Joseph & Mildred (Arnot) Wascherle. Doris was a 1944 graduate of Washington High School and then began her career with Republic and LTV Steel where she retired in 1990 as an executive secretary following 33 ½ years of service. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson James Joseph. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Carl R. Blackstone, whom she loved to travel with. Also surviving are her daughter, Marcia Kratzer, her grandchildren, Malissa Clingman, Joyce Broel, Elgin Joseph and Magnum Joseph, 5 great grandchildren, her brother James (Anne) Wascherle, her sisters in law, Virginia Price and Donna Luckner and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday at 11:00 A.M. at Grace United Church of Christ with Rev. Barry Stirbens officiating. Burial will follow at Newmans Creek Cemetery. Friends may call at the Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home on Thursday from 6-8 P.M. and on Friday one hour before the service.
