Donald W. Smith, 83, a lifelong resident of Massillon, passed away on September 15, 2021. He was born on February 11, 1938 to the late William and Ruby (Stoops) Smith. Don was self-employed and had been an owner and salesman of a thriving automotive business in Massillon for most of his life. He was very well-known and respected in the community. His easy going personality, joking nature and contagious smile made him well-liked by all. Don was also a very devoted family man. He absolutely loved being a husband and father but especially a grandpa to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren that he adored. When Don wasn’t working or spending time with his family, he enjoyed traveling, bowling, and was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. He also attended Calvary Baptist Church of Moffitt Heights. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 61 years, Janet (Chaboude) Smith; his children Dawn Smith, DiAnna Seward and Donald W. Smith, Jr. and wife Bev; his brother Jack R. Smith; grandchildren Jana (Thomas McCall) Smith, Jeffrey (Erin) Seward. Denaye (Joseph) Hagi, Kara (Jimmy) Swearingen, Kylynne (Adam) Reedy and Jessica (Kelly) Smith-Parker; great-grandchildren Aiden Boggs, Ryleigh Boggs, Allie Boggs, Noah Hagi, Emma Hagi, Ella Hagi, Joselynn Swearingen, Korbin Swearingen, Weslynn Reedy and Brazen Smith-Rice. A private family service will be held and final resting place will be at Brookfield Cemetery. The family would like to give special thanks to Community Hospice for their care and compassion of Don while he was at Danbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Ave SW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
