Donald Richard "Dick" Hixenbaugh, 81 of Massillon, died on Monday at Mercy Medical Center. He was born on September 24, 1930 in Massillon and was the son of the late Harry and Elizabeth (Johnson) Hixenbaugh. Dick attended Washington High School and shortly after was asked to serve his country in the U.S. Army. Dick owned and operated Dick's Amoco Station and later helped start Louis Brio's Express Lube on Massillon's west side. He was one of the co- founders of the Massillon Area Auto Club. He was an outdoorsman, who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed playing cards with his friends. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Hixenbaugh, his grandson Brant Hixenbaugh and his sister Jean Reemsnyder. He is survived by his son, Jerry (Jody) Hixenbaugh, his grandchildren Kirk ( Amy) Hixenbaugh, Scott Hixenbaugh, JacobWestfall and Kylie Westfall and his great grandchildren, Corrine and Ashlynn Hixenbaugh. Also surviving are his twin sister Donna (Ernie) Gamary, sister Betty Sheetz and his special friend, Ruth Nowling. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home with Rev. James Henniger officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 6-8 P.M. and on Saturday one hour before the service.
