Donald "Red" Lowther. Red was called home by his Lord and Savior on Monday January 20th, 2014. He was born in Massillon and graduated from Washington High School in 1949. He served in the United States Army from 1951 until 1953. He retired from Republic Steel after 35 years in 1982. Red was married to Esther Van Lanen on February 12th, 1955. Red was an avid golfer, he enjoyed basketball, swimming, hunting, bowling and travelling with his family. He is preceded in death by his parents Clifford and Florence (Richardson) of Massillon. Three brothers Clifford (Junie) of Littleton, Colorado, John of Canton, Ohio and Kenneth of Denver, Colorado. He is survived by his beloved wife Esther of 58 years. Son David (Beverly) of Monroe County, Ohio, Daughter Holly Dalton of Canton, Ohio, Grandson Dustin (Teresa) Lowther of Canal Fulton, Ohio, Granddaughter Sarah Dalton of Canton, Ohio and Great Granddaughter Haillie Lowther of Canal Fulton, Ohio. And God shall wipe all tears from their eyes and there shall be no more death neither sorrow nor crying neither shall there be any more pain for the former things are passed away. Services will be held at Chapel Hill Community in the Chapel on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at 11 AM with Pastor Hutchinson officiating. Burial will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery on January 29, 2014 at 1:30 with full military honors.
