Donald R Sibila

Donald R. Sibila, age 87 of Massillon passed away, Sunday, September 01, 2013 at Amherst Meadows. Don was born on July 24, 1926 in Massillon to the late Raymond & Helen (Dorffer) Sibila. He attended St. Marys School and was a 1944 graduate of Washington High School. Before the age of 14, Don began working at his father's "R.L Sibila Trucking" small business. Under the leadership of his father Ray Sibila, Don and younger brother Ron, grew the family business into the highly successful and prosperous "Peoples Cartage Inc" Trucking Company headquartered in Massillon, Ohio. During Don's 45 year career, he served as president and vice president before retiring in 1989. He was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus #554 and the Massillon Museum. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and the time spent with family. In addition to his parents; a sister Jean Hodgson preceded in death. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Shirley (Girt) Sibila. They have seven children: Marc Sibila, Scott (Barbara) Sibila, Dennis (Linda) Sibila, Bruce Sibila, Kathleen (Jim) Singer, Ann Marie Sibila and Teresa (Steve) Grosswiler; his grandchildren Chad Sibila, Brian Sibila, Kelly (Shawn) Gore, Kimberly (Dave Cleland) Singer, Jonathan (Andrea) Sibila, Patricia (Matthew) Owca, Alicia (Tim) Evans, Matthew (Bobbie) Sibila, David Singer, Caroline Sibila, Valerie Sibila, Drew Grosswiler, and Jamie Grosswiler, eight great-grandchildren and a brother Ronald (Jane) Sibila survives. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Marys Catholic Church on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at 1 P.M., Father Edward Gretchko will officiate. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
