Donald M. Hallett, age 77 of Massillon died on Sunday, April 12, 2009 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on May 4, 1931 in Medford, MA and was the son of the late William D. & Clara E. (Munro) Hallett. He was a Massillon resident for most of his life. Following his graduation from Canal Fulton High School in 1949 he served his country in the U.S. Army. He retired from the Enduro Division of Republic Steel following 40 years of service. He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, the Clinton Lodge F. & A.M. # 47, the Scottish Rite, Valley of Canton, Al Koran Shrine, the Massillon Shrine Club and the Oaks Club. For over 40 years Don was a season ticket holder for the Massillon Tigers. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Hallett. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary A. (Heckathorn) Hallett, whom he married on June 27, 1953, his children and their spouses, D. Scott and Denise Hallett of Massillon, Laurie A. & Kenneth McCune of Massillon and Michael J. & Jennifer Hallett of Ostrander, OH, his grandchildren, Christopher, Jayson and Joey Hallett, Brent, Trevor & Anna McCune and Rachel & Emily Hallett, two great grandchildren, Chris & Aiden, his sister Ruth Shook of Half Moon Bay, CA, several nieces and nephews and his faithful companion, his dog, Minnie. A service to celebrate Don’s life will take place on Saturday at 2:00 P.M. at the Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home with Rev. Jeffrey Shultz officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon until the time of the service. The Clinton Lodge will hold a Masonic service at 11:30 A.M.
