Donald Willis Fletcher

Donald Willis Fletcher, 95, of Massillon, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2024. Don was born on October 22, 1929 in Canal Fulton, OH the son of the late Willis and Alice (Gordon) Fletcher.

Don was a lifelong resident of the area and graduated from Massillon Washington High School. While in High School he met his forever 'Sweet Heart', Inez Knobloch, at Acme Dairy and together they shared 73 years of marriage until her death in June of 2024. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served our country during the Korean War. While in the Marines, he was wounded and received a 'Purple Heart' and was promoted to 'Corporal' before being Honorably Discharged. Don worked as a mail carrier for the Massillon City Post Office and retired following many years of service. He and his wife, Inez, enjoyed RV camping, fishing, and taking daily extended road trips, especially to Amish country. He was a longtime member of Massillon Baptist Temple. Don was a very loving, caring, and compassionate man. He would help anyone he could, and was a blessing to everyone.

He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Kathy Knobloch, Cheryl Karp, Jeanne (Tim) Mishler, Connie (Doc) Groves, Scott (Alice) C. Knobloch, Robin Schwartz; and many extended family members and friends. 

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Inez Fletcher; 2 brothers; 1 sister; and his nephew, Ronald Knobloch.

According to his wishes, cremation will take place. He and his wife, Inez, will be inurned together at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charily of one's choice.
