Donald E. Campton

Donald Eugene Campton, age 82, passed away on January 17, 2023, in Strasburg, Ohio, after a period of declining health. He was born in Guernsey County, Ohio, on December 26, 1940, son of the late Robert Campton and June (Welker) Geibel.

Don was a 1958 graduate of Washington High School in Massillon. His hobbies included restoring vehicles and renovating properties. He retired from Allstate Insurance Company as a senior claims adjuster and enjoyed spending summers at his second home in Alaska, fishing for salmon and halibut with his sons and best friends. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his partner of many years, Charlene Flack; his children, Stephanie Roberson, Michael (Tammy) Campton, Christine Campton, and Theodore (Amy) Campton; his grandchildren, Blair (Jen) Roberson, Alaina (Tony Skelin), Jessica Campton, Crystal (Mitch) Gauder, Amanda Bleigh, Courtney (Ryan) Phillips, Nicole, Alexis and Tommy Mummertz, Thevin (Camilla) Campton, Paige, Chloe and Phoebe Campton; his great-grandchildren, Jaydon, Robert, Lucas, Abby, Taylor, Penelope, Sofia, Jagger, & Averyl; his sister, Judy Jamison; and his lifelong friends, Bill Bergener, and Gary and Larry Masters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Janet (Lower) Campton, and his siblings, Robert Campton and Sandy Messerly.

Visitation will be at Paquelet Funeral Home on Sunday, January 22nd from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm. The viewing will be held at Chapel of the Cross UMC, 14411 Orrville St NW, North Lawrence, Ohio, on Monday, January 23, 2023, from 10 am – 11 am, with family receiving visitors and service to follow.
