Donald J. Doyle, age 84, of Massillon passed away Friday, September 24, 2010 at his residence. He was born August 5, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY and moved to Massillon in 1968 from Newark, OH. Donald was a senior special clerk with the Ohio Power Company for 36 years, and was a motion picture projectionist for 50 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during W.W.II. in the 991st Medical Detachment based out of Long Island, NY. Prior to his Army service he was a merchant marine. Donald was a member of the Ohio Power Retiree’s, the I.A.T.S.E. & M.P.M.O. Projectionist and Stage Hands, AMVETS # 6, Eagles Aerie #’s 190 and 2370, the Lions Club, the American Legion Post # 221, a Kentucky Colonel, and the First Christian Church, where he served as trustee. Donald is survived by his wife of 63 years Shirley (Brown) whom he married November 1, 1947; son David (Karen) Doyle; daughter Diane (Tom) McCourt of Canal Fulton; grandchildren Matthew and Cassandra Doyle, Angela Nelson, and Samantha McCourt; two great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Thursday September 30th at 7:00 P.M. at First Christian Church, Massillon. A graveside service with military honors will be conducted at 12:30 P.M. Friday, October 1st at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, OH. In lieu of flowers donations in Donald’s memory may be given to the American Legion Post # 221. Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
