Donald "Don" James Nicewander, age 86, was promoted to glory on Sunday, August 23 after an extended illness. He was born to the late Russell and Nellie (Koontz) Nicewander in Massillon on December 22, 1928. He was a graduate of Washington High School. Don retired from Iron City Sash and Door as a truck driver. Don loved to ride his Harley, bowl, play cards, travel, but most of all Don was a devoted family man spending time with his daughters and grandchildren. Don was known for his strong faith in God and attending church. Some of Don's life accomplishments were building his own home and driving twice across country on his motorcycle. He will forever be remembered for his infectious smile and that he was a loving dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, great-great grandpa, brother, uncle and friend. Don is survived by his daughters, Marie Steiner, Sandi (John) Brakus, Cindy (Bill) Dorman, Vicky (Greg) Miller, and Mary (Mark) Reynolds, 16 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; his sisters Esther Nicewander, Nella Fay (Wayne) Zechiel and Karen (Tom) Pearch; his brothers Russell (Jean) and Robert Nicewander as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by wives Alta Marie (Baus) Sharpless and Eileen (Noftsinger) and sisters Mary (Bill) George and Marjorie (Earl) Frazee and nephew Brian Frazee and stepson Warren (Jeannie) Brinker. A celebration of Don's life will be held on August 29, 2015 at 12 noon at Otterbein United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 10 am until the time of the service.
