Donald 'Benny' Bettilyon

Donald ‘Benny’ Bettilyon, age 77 of Jackson Twp. passed away Saturday December 20, 2008 at Rose Lane Health Care. Don was born February 9, 1931 in Justus, OH to the late Calvert & Ethel (Cook) Bettilyon. Benny was a 1949 graduate of Washington High School. He served in the Ohio National Guards from 1951-1953. He joined the Massillon Police Force from 1957-1965 and then went to Canton Drop Forge as a Die Maker for 30 years. Don was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, International Die Sinkers Union and the Midstate Jeepesters Association. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son William A. Bettilyon in 2006. He is survived by his wife Kay (Townsend) of the residence with whom he shared 52 years of marriage on October 27th. They have four sons and four daughters in laws: Michael Bettilyon of Stoughton, WI, John & Suzy Bettilyon of Jackson Twp., Scott & Cheri Bettilyon of Ashville, NC, Robert & Maria Bettilyon of Jackson Twp. and Jeanne Bettilyon of Dalton.; he leaves two sisters, Ruth Rinehart of Brewster and June Steed of Massillon. The grandchildren are: Kyle, Andy, Reid, Hayley, Hannah, Nathan, Alex, Caroline, Steven, Laura, Michael Bettilyon and Christie Martin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Fr. Edward Gretchko will officiate. Burial will be at Rose Hill Memorial Garden.
