Dennis Lee Gibson

Dennis L. Gibson, age 77 passed away at Affinity Medical Center on Friday, March 16, 2012. He was born on March 4, 1935 in Kenova, West Virginia to the late Eustace and Emma (Riggs) Gibson. He married Sandra Kay Billups on August 5, 1958, and they made Massillon their home in 1959. Dennis worked for Ashland Oil Refinery for 33 years, until his retirement in 1993. He was an avid golfer and diehard Massillon Tigers Fan. Dennis was a snowbird, spending his winters in Florida. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Massillon. He was past president of the Massillon Tiger Booster Club, Tiger Sideliners Club, and a member of the Touchdown Club. He was a loving husband and wonderful father to 4 great children. Dennis was a doting grandfather who enjoyed following his grandchildren's activities. He will be missed greatly. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, his 4 children, Deanna (Stan) Levenger, Debbie (Merle )Amstutz, Donna (Gary) Sercu, and Doug(Jackie) Gibson, 10 Grandchildren, 2 Great-Grandchildren, 2 brothers Eustace "Junior" (Rosemary) Gibson, and Bobby Joe (Barbara) Gibson. Sister-in-law, Janet (Ken) Walker. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Leslie Gibson and a sister Lois Boyes. A Funeral Service will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Massillon on Monday, March 19, 2012 at 11:00 A.M., Pastor Julia Wertz, officiating. The family will receive friends at the Paquelet Funeral Home- Massillon on Sunday, March 18, 2012 from 6 to 8 P.M. and on Monday at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.
