Dennis J. Jacko, 78, of Massillon, passed away on November 13, 2023. He was born on December 23, 1944, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late Valentine and Mollye (Mikloucich) Jacko.
Denny was a 1962 graduate of Langley High School in Pittsburgh. He furthered his education at Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio, where he graduated in 1967 with a bachelor's degree.
He worked in the accounting department for Republic Steel in Massillon for 30 years. Denny then worked for Buckeye Corrugated, Inc. as a controller, which he did for 10 years. He was also a lifelong member of Divine Mercy Parish and held the position of President at the former Massillon Industrial Federal Credit Union.
Denny had a love for family, cars, and everything Pittsburgh, especially his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers. He was hard-working and always provided everything his family needed. Denny enjoyed family time and was very proud and supportive of his children and grandchildren and their multitude of activities and events. He was their #1 fan.
His family will remember him most for his kindness, selflessness, generosity, and faith filled personality. One of their favorite qualities about Denny was the ability to make them laugh with his quick wit.
They were blessed to call him, husband, dad, grandpa, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all.
Denny is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Jane (Competty) Jacko; children, DJ (Amy) Jacko, Christine Jacko and Jennifer (Scott) Hehr; grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Caden Jacko, Graham Jacko, Annabelle Hehr, Valerie Hehr and Zachary Hehr; his sister, Roberta (James) O’Brien; his aunt Sister Cecilia Jacko,OSF; brother-in-law Thomas (Barbara) Competty and sisters-in-law Joan McCune and Patricia (Steve) Hayden; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 19th from 2-4 p.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 20th at 12:30 p.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 3430 St Michaels Blvd NW, Canton, OH 44718.
A committal service will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
