Delno “Jim” Hoagland, age 92 of Massillon, passed away on June 19, 2021. Jim was born on December 31, 1928 in Massillon, Ohio to Dwight and Geraldine (Boyer) Hoagland. He graduated from Jackson High School in 1948. He served active duty in the US Navy during WWII on the Snowden and Delong destroyer escorts and was a life member of The Veterans of Underage Military Service Association. He also served for three years in the US Air Force Reserves as a Staff Sgt during the Korean War. Jim retired after 30 years as a mail carrier from the US Post Office in 1989. Jim ran Hoagland’s Carry-Out alongside his loving wife of 71 years, Barbara on High Mill Road in Jackson Township during the 1960’s. He was an avid fly fisherman and traveled to Canada to fish. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, Kim David Hoagland, daughter, Sandra Hoagland, and grandchild, Nicholas Anthony Medure. He is survived by his daughter, Melissa (Dale Buss) Medure, grandchildren, Hannah (Patrick Wikel) Medure, Vincent (Riordan Hipp) Medure, Brittney (Scott) Cassity, Nathan (Becky) Trescott, and Erin Hoagland, great-grandchildren, Mason and Chance Cassity. A graveside service will be held at 10:0 a.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery on Tuesday, June 29, 2021. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Stark County Veterans Association.
