Deborah K. Holzopfel

August 28, 1952 — November 30, 2012

Deborah Kay Holzopfel 60 of Massillon passed away November 30, 2012 due to complications from Multiple Myeloma. Which is a cancer of the bone marrow. Debbie was born in Wheeling WVa. on August 28th, 1952 to Glenna and Harry Violet. She was the middle daughter of five. Deb was preceded in death by her mother Glenna Barnett and her sister Diane Fields. She graduated with the Class of 1970 from Bellaire High School. She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Keith and her daughter Maggie (Herman) Huth and son Kris (Debbie) Holzopfel. Also survived by the absolute apples of her eyes, her 3 grandchildren. Jaret, Kevin and Amber, all of Massillon. Also; her father Harry Violet, sisters Bobbie Jean (Tom) Ferguson , sister Pam Crum (all of Shadyside , Ohio). Sister Kathy (Chuck) Mesmer of Destrehan, La. Deb was employed by Akron Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Group in Akron, Norton and Stow as a assistant. She was a member of the Greensburg Methodist Church. Deb was also a member of the Manchester Women's Club for 35 years. Thru this organization she spearheaded donation drives yearly to help feed, clothe and house many people in the Summit and Stark counties who needed aid. She also volunteered many years for Edwin Shaw Hospital at the NEC World Series of Golf. Anyone who had the honor to let Debbie touch their lives would know what to expect from her. And that would be an attitude to help others before herself. This attitude is the one she carried thru her whole life. She was a GIVER not a taker. She found the good side in everyone and assisted anyone that needed support. Our family would like to thank all the good friends and neighbors that helped and visited with Debbie during these terrible 6 months. We believe she is in a better place now. Also we would like to thank all of the personnel at the Seidman Cancer Center and MICU at Case Western University Hospital for all their compassion and care that they gave Deb. Friends may gather on Wednesday evening Dec. 5, 2012 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home. 1100 Wales Rd. NE Massillon, OH 44646 A memorial service will be held at 8:00PM with Rev. Keith Stephens, officiating.
