David W. Gentzler, 78, of Canton passed away peacefully after a long illness on June 25, 2024 at home with family by his side.
He was born on July 12, 1945 to the late Paul and Geraldine (Appleby) Gentzler in Barberton, Ohio.
A 1963 graduate of Green High School, David went to work in the family business, Gentzler Tool & Die, eventually becoming the company president. He retired in 2023. David was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church and The Mercedes Club. He was dedicated to his family and friends. He most enjoyed spending time with his wife, sons and extended family. David had many interests in life, including muscle cars, traveling, grilling, corn roasts, hunting, camping, skiing, golfing, karaoke, motorcycles, drag racing, Browns, Cavs and Indians games and meticulously taking care of his home and vehicles.
David is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Ruth Ann (Myers) Gentzler; children David A. Myers, Paul W. Gentzler and Adam D. Gentzler; special nephew, Jared Grimes; sister, Nancy (John Switzer) Grimes; in-laws, Rita Gentzler, Allan (Patsy) Myers, and Jackie (Bob) Dzugan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gordon Gentzler.
Visitation will be held Sunday, June 30, 2024 from 2pm - 5pm at the Paquelet Funeral Home and on Monday, July 1, 2024, 11am at Epworth United Methodist in Massillon. Funeral services will begin at 12pm, with Pastor Linda Slutz, officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
