David R. Lane

David R. Lane, age 70 of Massillon, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at Aultman Compassionate Care Center with his loving family by his side. David was born on July 18, 1941 in Stockport, Ohio the son of the late Erman and Goldie (Cunningham) Lane. He lived in the area most of his life and was a 1959 graduate of Washington High School. David was a United States Army Veteran. He worked at the Timken Company as a pipe fitter retiring in 1992 after 32-1/2 years of service. David also worked for 10 years as a custodian for the Massillon City Schools. He was a member of Clinton Lodge #47 F&AM and First United Methodist Church in Massillon. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Nancy (Gumpf) Lane with whom he married on April 3, 1965; his children, Rodney Lane of Killeen, TX, Wendy Lane of Canton, and Stacy Lane of Massillon; his grandchildren, Nicholas, Patricia and Melissa; his siblings, J. Ronald (Carol) Lane of Massillon, Judy (Howard) Bennett of Massillon, and D. Joseph (Rita) Lane of Charlotte, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 AM at the Paquelet Funeral Home. Pastor Julia Wertz of First U.M.C. will be officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 7 – 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to First U.M.C. of Massillon, Aultman Hospice or American Cancer Fund.
