David L. Yob

David L. Yob, age 71, of Massillon, died on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at Meadow Wind Health Care Center. He was born in Canton, Ohio on November 20, 1937. He was preceded in death by his adoptive parents, Leo and Amelia (Piatko) Yob. At the age of 15 David received his Ham Radio Operators license (W8NND). He graduated from Washington High School in 1955 at the age of 17 and joined the United States Navy where he served on the USS Coral Sea. He later worked as a lineman for Ohio Edison, retiring in 1996. David also served as an Assistant Scout Master for Troop 904 in Massillon. For 30 years he appeared as a mountain man at the Yankee Peddler Festival in Canal Fulton. He was a member of Rivertree Christian Church, Portage Campus. He is survived by his wife, the former Phyllis Clouser, whom he married on March 28, 1959 and would have celebrated 50 years of marriage this year. He is also survived by his son Mark D. Yob of Massillon, his daughter, Cynthia K. (Rev. James) Owens of Florida, brother-in-law and sister-in-law David and Edlyn Theiss, nieces Laura Theiss and Debbie Shaffer, his grandchildren, Zachary Yob, Daniel Yob, Kimberly (Andrew) Armstrong and Jason (Ramona) Owens, his great grandchildren, Elizabeth Armstrong and Eva Owens and his sisters, Laurie Marsh and Susan (Denny) Bishop. Also surviving are two godsons, Jacob and Adam Pries. The family would also like to thank his doctor, Donald Zimmerman, MD. and the staff of Meadow Wind Nursing Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 1:00 P.M. at the Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home with his son in law, Rev. James Owens, officiating. Burial will follow at Brookfield Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 P.M. Messages of support and sympathy may be sent to www.arnoldlynch.com.
