David L. Orr, 82, of Canal Fulton, passed away at his home on January 30, 2024. He was born on January 16, 1942, in Shirley, West Virginia, to the late Lester and Francis “Pauline” (Curtis) Orr.
He was a 1960 graduate of Northwest High School.
Dave worked for the Timken Roller Bearing Co. and had 35 years of service before retiring. He was a longtime member of Anchor Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and member of the choir.
He was a proud member of the NRA and avid outdoorsman. He loved fishing, hunting, and travelling to West Virginia a few times a year to visit family. Dave was also an avid dog lover and had many loyal canine companions over the years; most recently, Molly, who remained faithfully by his side until the very end.
In addition, Dave was a member of Performance Ford Club of America; former drag racer and attendee of many cars shows over the years. He also had a passion for riding motorcycles.
Above all, he was a devoted family man, a loving father and committed husband. Dave could be described best as an easy going, fun, and quick-witted jokester. His warm personality and his love for his family and friends will never be forgotten.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 50 years, Diana (Strong) Orr; children Bonnie (Ronald) Deitrick, Paula (Anthony) Pellegrene and Dustin Orr; sister Beverly Nidy; 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren with a 6th on the way.
In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his former wife, Claudia “Jean” Orr; his son, Scott Orr; daughter-in-law, Sarah Orr; siblings, Ruth Stano, Sally Didinger, Johnnie Klett, Elsie Bennard and Dwight Orr.
The family would like to give special thanks to Crossroads Hospice, The Difference is Family Services (Dif’s), longtime friend, Fred DeGordon and all other family and friends who have helped during this difficult time.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, February 9th at 6 p.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Calling hours will begin at 4 p.m. until the time of the service.
Memorial contributions may be made in Dave’s memory to Anchor Baptist Church, 2700 Richville Dr SE, Massillon, OH 44646 or the Stark County Humane Society, 5100 Peach St NE, Louisville, OH 44641.
