He graduated from Hoover High School, class of 1965 where he met the love of his life, Karen Dean. They were married on July 20, 1967, in Charleston, SC while he was in the service. They spent the next 51 years in love until Karen’s passing in 2019. After settling in Massillon together they raised two children, Sonya and Jason.
Dave proudly served his country in the US Army in Viet Nam, until May 1968. Following his honorable discharge from the army, he spent several years in the real estate business and then settled into the consumer loan business. He was a graduate of the Ohio School of Banking. Being community minded Dave served on the board of directors for numerous organizations including the BBB, Consumer Credit Counseling Service, the Credit Executive Club and Neighborhood Housing Services of Massillon. He was a long time member of the American Legion and was active with the Boy Scouts as a youth and for many years as an adult. Having a strong faith and as a servant of the Lord, Dave was a faithful member of St John Lutheran Church of Massillon where he served many years on the Board of Directors, the Leadership Committee and in many other capacities.
Dave enjoyed fishing, camping, wood working, vintage automobilia and tinkering in the garage but family was always the most important thing to him. Family vacations, picnics, holiday gatherings and attending his kids and grandchildren’s events were his favorite things in life.
