David Brian Stires

May 26, 1944 — January 28, 2015

David B. Stires MD, age 70 passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, after an extended illness. He was born in Columbus, OH. Son of the late Dr and Mrs. William Stires. He graduated from Glenwood High School, attended undergraduate school at Western Reserve and graduated from The Ohio State University with a BS degree. He remained there and graduated with a Medical Degree in 1970. He completed his Internship and General Surgery Residency at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. In 1975 he returned to Canton and began a 27 year General Surgery practice. Due to declining health, retired in 2002. He spent 11 years living at Apple Valley, Howard OH. He was a skilled architect, builder, landscaper, and designed and built two homes, which were sites of many great parties, bon fires, weddings, boating and fishing. He always wanted his guests to have a fun time. He also loved his pets. He is survived by his wife Debbie to whom he was married 46 ½ years,; his daughters Gwynn (Rob) Ogborn, Kristen (Rob) Miller, Melissa Stires; his 6 grandchildren, Kirk, Bill, Cheyanne, Emily, Brett, and Tre; his sister Sue Rosenberry and Brother Jim (Eva) Stires of Boise, Idaho; his Sister-in-Law Becky (John) Lowry; Aunt and Uncle Mary and John Schumacher. A host of nieces and nephews. Last but not least, his cat Simba. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law, Tom Rosenberry, and his mother-in-law Bernice Temple in the past month. A Gathering of Family and friends will be held at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon on Sunday, February 01, 2015 from 1 until 4P.M.. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either The Humane Society or Mercy Medical Center Hospice. Paquelet Funeral Home & Crematory – 330-833-3222
