David Anthony Marcelli

March 22, 1938 — March 2, 2022

David Anthony Marcelli, 83 passed away March 2nd, 2022, at Altercare Navarre, Ohio. He was born March 22,1938 to Pietro Marcelli and Susan (Lombardi) Marcelli, in Canton, Ohio. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Alice Victoria née Floom and children Theresa Rae ( Richard) Ramphal, David Todd ( Kimberly) Marcelli, Terra Marie (Dan) Mann and Thaddeus Peter(Amy ) Marcelli. In addition he was survived by his granddaughter Dr. Alexis Mann, step-grandsons Jim and Jason Gribben ,step grand daughters Madison and Peyton Ferrell, numerous step great great grand children, nieces, nephews and in-laws. He was a lifelong resident of Stark County and a 1956 graduate of Lincoln High School. He retired from the Timken Company after 38 years and also served with the Ohio Army National Guard. Dave was an avid gardener and he and Vicky planted large gardens, fruit trees, and berry bushes that provided his family with fresh produce as well as his friends and neighbors. He was a lifelong athlete that belonged to several softball and fumble ball leagues at the Timken Company Recreation Park which led him to coaching several Little League teams there. He was a baseball and softball umpire for numerous leagues including, Hot Stove, OHSAA, College, and ClassA. In 2009 he was inducted into the Greater Stark County Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame for his work as an umpire. Dave also coached the elementary basketball team at PJ Lohr Elementary School, in Perry Township, which led him to become a basketball referee in the surrounding area. This enabled him to mentor several referees during his career. He was one of several organizers and head coach in the Perry Youth Football league. He coached the "Falcons" to several league championships during his tenure. The generosity of his time, treasure, and talent led him to provide needed equipment, transportation, and support to any player that needed it. His quick smile and friendly demeanor will be missed by all that knew him. There will be no memorial services.
