David A. 'Dave' Gourley, Sr.

David A. “Dave” Gourley, Sr., age 78 of Massillon, passed away Friday at Affinity Medical Center – Massillon Campus. Dave was born in Canton on October 28, 1928 to the late James W. and Ida S. (Potter) Gourley. He was a 1946 Middlebranch High School graduate and a United States Army Veteran. He worked for many years at Jackson Bayley and later retired from Controlled Power Corp as a purchasing agent. Dave was a member of the Massillon Moose #481. He enjoyed gardening, traveling, watching the Cleveland Indians and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by; sons, Steven M. Gourley (1974) and Thomas J. Gourley (1964); brother Elmer E. Gourley; first wife Mary Ann (Harrison) Gourley and grandson, Brandon Scott Gourley. He is survived by his wife with whom he celebrated 32 years of marriage on December 6, 2006, Joanne (Yingling) Gourley; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Darla Gourley of Navarre, Raymond and Pamela Snyder of Massillon; daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah Evans of Perry Twp., Nancy and Kenny Lawrence of Jackson Twp., Patricia and Ken Cebulko of Canton, Julie Snyder and Leonard Bomba, Jr of Massillon, Joan and Scott Safreed of Massillon; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Eleanore Gourley of Hemet, Ca.; grandchildren, Adam & Christina Gourley; Jada Bucher, Tarrian Smith, Keith Evans, Steven, Justin and Angela Lawrence; Nicole and Joseph Cebulko; Raymond Snyder Jr., Heather and Melissa Bomba; Scotty and Brian Safreed; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services celebrating David’s life will be held Tuesday at 10:30 AM at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Calling hours will be Monday from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the Paquelet Funeral Home.
