David A. Balista, 71 of Massillon, passed away on Friday, April 7, 2017 at Affinity Medical Center. He was born on February 3, 1946 in Akron, Ohio and was the son of the late Solondo and Julianna (Kotelis) Balista. Following high school, David attended Kent State University. He went on to work in sales at Borden Ice Cream. He then worked in the finance field with Morgan Stanley. He was a member of the Massillon Church of Christ. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson Jordan Smith. He is survived by his wife, Shirley J. (Roe) Balista, whom he married on February 25, 1989. He is also survived by his daughters, Julie (Isaac) Cotton, Jennifer (Brandon) Henderson-Adams and Jessica (Tom) Anderson, his stepchildren, Sheryn (Daniel) Schweizer and Ben (Shelly) Huff, III. Other survivors include his grandchildren, Courtney, Kaitlyn, Emily, Lauren and Rachel Henderson-Adams, Devon Schweizer, Adam (Katy) Ward and Katie Schweizer, his great grandchildren, Austin, Ava, Adalyn and Evelyn and his aunt Emma Salitore. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6-8 pm at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home and on Wednesday one hour before the service. The funeral service will take place on Wednesday at 11:00am. Evangelists Rick Kelly and Glenn Hawkins will officiate. Burial will take place at Friends Cemetery, 24001 Leatherwood Road in Quaker City, Ohio. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in David’s name to Massillon Church of Christ, 915 State Avenue NE, Massillon, Ohio 44646.
