Darlene Marie Derr

Darlene Marie Derr, 87 of Massillon, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021. Darlene was born on September 7, 1933, in Perry Heights, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Helen (Zimmer) Rose. She was a lifelong resident of the area and a 1951 graduate of Washington High School. Darlene retired from the Massillon City School District after 29 years of service as a food service employee. Following her retirement, she worked at Cummings Florist for 14 years. Darlene loved to travel with her husband and family. She enjoyed walks in the local parks and around the neighborhood with her husband. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. Darlene was also a member of St. Barbara’s Catholic Church for 58 years. She is survived by her husband, Raymond F. Derr whom she shared 67 years of marriage; children, Benjamin (Denise) Derr, and Rosemarie Garbonick; grandchildren, Jessica Marie (Nicholas) Sampsel, Alexandra Rose (Michael) Marasti, Vincent Ray, and Grace Rose Garbonick; great-grandchildren, Elliott John and Addison Rose Sampsel; and sisters, Donna Lautzenheiser and Shirley Ferry. A private celebration of Darlene’s life will be held later. She will be entombed at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
