Darlene Mae Berquist

Darlene Mae Berquist, age 72, of Massillon, passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully, Tuesday morning October 1, 2013. Darlene was born on June 16, 1941 in Massillon to the late William and Elva (Bishop) Migge. She was a lifelong resident of the area and a 1959 graduate of Washington High School. She worked in retail and then had a career as a care provider at Massillon State Hospital from which she retired in 1996. Afterwards she and her sister Flo opened The Shoppe Around The Corner. Darlene enjoyed knitting and crocheting various items for her family and friends. She was an active, lifelong member of the First Christian Church of Massillon. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert J. Berquist with whom she shared 39 years prior to his passing; her brother William 'Bud' Migge; and her sisters Agnes Wilfley and Florence McKinney. Darlene is survived by her children, Michelle (Matt) Burch of Tuscarawas Township, Robert James (Lise') Berquist of Jackson Twp. and Brett Berquist of Clarion, PA; her beloved grandchildren, Lexie and Matthew Burch; and her sister Blanche Jones of Springfield, OH. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at First Christian Church in Massillon with her pastor Reverend Steven Gower officiating and the eulogy will be given by her cousin, Fr. Tom Bishop. Burial will follow at Brookfield Cemetery.
