Daniel R. Zerbe

June 13, 1936 — February 4, 2009

Daniel R. Zerbe Sr., age 72, passed away at home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on June 13, 1936 in Sacramento, PA to the late Allen & Rosa Zerbe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister Elsie (Chip) Brown. Dan graduated from Penn State University and moved to Ohio to work for the Timken Company. He has been with Cargill Salt (formerly Diamond Crystal and Akzo Nobel) for the past 40 years. Dan was a man of strong faith and served churches in Massillon and Manchester as Deacon and treasurer. He was an avid Nascar fan and also looked forward to the annual fishing trips to Canada with his family. Dan is survived by his wife Judy (Boyce), with whom he would have celebrated 39 years of marriage in April; son and daughter-in-law Dan Jr. and Holly of Massillon; daughter and son-in-law Lori and Alex Maggi of Chicago; grandchildren Tyler and Madelynn of Massillon; brother, John Irwin (Ruby) Zerbe of Madison, WI; brother-in-law Clyde Boyce; sisters-in-law Carol Bennett, Chris (Rex) Sourwine; Robyn (Dave) Cottrell; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 9, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the Paquelet Funeral Home: 1100 Wales Rd. N.E. Massillon, OH 44646. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M. and one hour prior to the service on Monday. Minister Earl F. Ash will be officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Messages of sympathy and support may be sent to www.paquelet.com.
