Daniel James Nave

September 10, 1923 — April 30, 2012

Daniel J. Nave, age 88 passed away on Monday, April 30, 2012. He was born on September 10, 1923 in Fairhope, Ohio to the late Clarence and Laura (Hershey) Nave. He was a 1941 graduate of McKinley High School. He married Esther Mae Clark and they were together until her passing in 1992 Daniel worked as a welder at Republic Steel in Canton for 42 years. He enjoyed Bowling on a Monday night league at Hall of Fame for 35 years, as well as camping, fishing and trips with Fidelity Tours. An avid and dedicated sports fan enjoying football, basketball, The Cleveland Indians and especially looking forward to the McKinley/Massillon games for many years. He is survived by his children, Janeen (William) Clark of Massillon, Greg (Dawn) Nave of Perry Heights, and Corrine (Alan) McClurg of Columbus; Seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Shirley Donnally of Salem, and Jane Tomlinson of Louisville. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his Uncle Arthur Nave, who raised him and was a father to him; Stepson, Terry Cowan; Brothers, Marvin Nave and George Nave; and one sister, Martha Bleata. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at 1 P.M. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon, Pastor Rufus Hofelt officiating. The family will receive friends from noon until the time of the service. Interment at Sunset Hills Burial Park.
