Dale L. Evans

Dale L. Evans, 93 of Newman, passed away on April 1, 2016 at Amherst Meadows. Dale was born on November 9, 1922 in Massillon the son of John L. and Margaret (McCreary) Evans. He was a lifelong resident of the area and a 1940 graduate of Washington High School. Dale was a U.S. Army veteran and served our country during WWII in the 8th Armored Division in Europe. He owned Evans Glass Heat for many years. Dale was a member of Newman Baptist Church, The Tag Alongs, Buckeye, and the 4-Square Sam's Camper Clubs. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Mildred (Llewellyn) Evans in 2011, and his brother Gordon Evans. He is survived by his daughters and their spouses, Vicki (Tom) Romine of Tallmadge, and Sandra (David) Hiatt of Hebron, Ohio; grandchildren, Dayna (Don) Moore and Mark (Sara) Hiatt; 9 great grandchildren, Austin, Brynn, and Kylie Whistle, Aavyn and Ayden Moore, Ellie, Nathaniel, and Hayden Hiatt, and Kaeleigh Hayden; nephews, Dave (Ellie) Evans and Tim (Vicki) Evans. A Celebration of Dale's life will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at Newman Baptist Church in Massillon. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 10-12 p.m. before the service. Burial will follow at Newman Cemetery.
