Craig Anderson Duer, age 80, of Perry Township crossed the finish line on March 18, 2021 after a 20 year battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was born on September 02, 1940 to the late John and Jessie (Stalnaker) Duer. He was a graduate of Kent State and received his Master’s Degree in Engineering Management from the University of Southern Florida. He married Addie Preece, who was the love of his life on February 16, 1980, and they shared 40 years together until her passing in 2020. Craig retired from Johnson and Johnson Vision Acuvue in 2005. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and building things. One of his greatest accomplishments was building his grandfather clock. Craig was an old school gentleman, who opened doors for ladies, pulled out the chair for his wife, and picked up the tab. He was devoted to his wife and they still held hands after 40 years of marriage. Craig will forever be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend and will be dearly missed. He is survived by his daughters Maria Duer, Addie J. (John) Coburn, Renee (Terry) Jett and Michele Duer; his grandchildren Joshua (Megan) Coburn, Elisha (Caleb) Vernon, Juliana Jett, Taylor (Cody) Schworm, John Nussbaum, Joseph Fink, Jenni Duer and Jonathan Duer; his great grandchildren James Coburn, Naomi Coburn, Emme Schworm and Axel Schworm; his sisters Peggy Dick and Nancy Macwherter; his brother Bill Duer and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother Josephine, who raised him, wife, his grandson Eric Coburn and his sons Johnnie Coburn and Terry Coburn. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at 11am at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church 3430 St. Michaels Boulevard N.W., Canton, Ohio 44718. Father Benson Okpara will be officiating. The family will receive friends at the Paquelet Funeral Home – 1100 Wales Road NE., in Massillon on Monday, March 22, 2021 from 6-8p.m. and from 9:30-10:30am on Tuesday, March 23, 2021.
