Craig A Yoder

February 26, 1951 — December 13, 2022

Craig A. Yoder, 71, born February 26, 1951, in Canton, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2022, after a brave battle with cancer. Most of Craig’s life was spent in Hartville and Canton and he was a 1969 graduate of Lake High School.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob (2001) and Vivian (2009); sister Judy Brokaw (1993); and brother-in-law Richard Brokaw (2002).

He is survived by his sons, Josh (Ashley) Yoder and Gabe (Alisha) Yoder and grandchildren Jacob, Addison, Oliver, and Bodhi of Columbus; brother Phillip of Akron; niece Nicole (Mark) Wood and great-nieces, Ellie, Katy and Rachel of Greenville, SC; and partner, Mary Stefanko of Massillon.

Following high school, Craig studied at Kent State before joining the US Army and serving his country in Vietnam in 1970. He began a storied career at Buckeye Packaging in 1973, working in several roles before becoming Sales Manager, a position he held for 35 years until his recent retirement. Craig’s affability and personality were a perfect fit as he traveled the country, meeting and building relationships with a variety of people over his career.

Craig loved bringing people together for a good time and was a joy to all who knew him. He was blessed with many great friends and enjoyed spending time with them, especially on the golf course over a few Coors Lights or bantering over a meal. Craig entertained with his quick-wit, storytelling (and countless stories), and the lifelong nicknames he bestowed upon friends. If you weren’t on the receiving end of his good-natured goading, consider yourself one of a lucky few.

Craig also cherished his time wintering in Sarasota, Florida the last seven years. While there, he enjoyed year-round golf, hosting friends and family, and tending to his backyard where he spent many hours relaxing in or by the pool.

Craig lived a very full and rewarding life over his 71 years. He came for a good time and undoubtedly had just that. His time was all the more special and meaningful because of how he shared it with his friends and loved ones.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 7th from 12 – 2PM at Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon with a celebration of life beginning at 2pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Aultman Hospice, 2821 Woodlawn Ave NW, Canton, OH 44708.
