Craig Alan Robinson, 68, of Jackson Township, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 23, 2018 at the Aultman Compassionate Care Center. He was born on February 24, 1950 to the late Lance and Ramona (Markhart) Robinson in Saginaw, Michigan. He grew up in Midland, MI and married Paula Davis on November 8, 1975. After attending Midland High School, Craig played the keyboard in several bands, jamming with Meatloaf, playing clubs in Chicago, and even recording a record. Craig enlisted in the Marine Corps along with his best friend Mike Clark and deployed to Vietnam in 1969. In Vietnam, he served as a member of the 11th Marines, 1st Marine Division as a counter-mortar radarman, and was awarded the Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and a Purple Heart. After returning from Vietnam, Craig worked as a paramedic and a musician. He later began his career with Babcock & Wilcox in 1982 and relocated to Ohio in 1985. He retired from B&W in 2013 after 31 years as Corporate Safety Manager for the Babcock & Wilcox Construction Company. Much to the chagrin of his Ohio-based friends, Craig was a die-hard Michigan fan, and expressed his Wolverine pride loudly and often. He was an avid motorcyclist, having taken trips to Nova Scotia, Florida, and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula with various friends over the years. He was a collector of Harley Davidson t-shirts, including two recently obtained -- one from his granddaughter’s trip to Ireland with the Jackson High School Marching Band, and another collected on a recent trip he and Paula took with friends to Gettysburg, PA. Craig and Paula loved to travel and had visited many parts of the Caribbean and Mexico on their adventures. Craig spent a number of years as a member of the B&W golf league and more than 30 years playing in a Tuesday night Akron Canton dart league with a group of men and women who became dear friends. He was an awesome dog dad, and never met a four-legged creature he didn’t like. Despite a number of hobbies, Craig’s most significant passion was loving, mentoring, supporting and spoiling his granddaughters, Reese & Ruby. They were the apples of his eye. Craig is survived by his wife Paula; daughters Cara (Ryan) Beisert and Abby Ann Robinson; 2 granddaughters Reese Elisabeth & Ruby Emilia Beisert; brothers Kevin (Gail) Robinson & Kelly (Rebecca) Robinson; sisters-in-law Debbie (Gary) Johnson and Kristina (James) Troutman; brothers-in-law Brad (Dianna) Davis & Scott Davis; a number of beloved nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews; faithful pets Pete and Kenzie; and a host of friends and extended family. He will be forever missed for his quick wit, practical advice, goofy smile, and his generous and giving heart. A celebration of Craig’s life will be held at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at 11:00am. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 30, 2018 from 5-8:00pm, and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Interment at Western Reserve National Cemetery with military honors. Memorial donations may be made to the Stark County Humane Society or to the Aultman Compassionate Care Center.
