Costas John Velves, 88, passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2020, following an extended illness. He was born in Ikaria, Greece on April 20, 1932 to John and Amalia (Funtulis) Velves. He was a long time manager for Kentucky Fried Chicken and retired due to health issues. He loved to cook and garden. He enjoyed selling his produce off his front porch. Costas is survived by his children, Teresa (Derek) Gertz, Amalia Velves, John Velves and Constantina (Russell) King; nine grandchildren, Scott, Daniel, Sarah, Johnathon, Candice, Markus, Doriann, Katlynn and Tyler; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Maria Raptis. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Evelyn M. (Sigley) Velves and one brother. A memorial gathering will be held at the Paquelet Funeral Home on November 11, 2020 from 6pm-7pm with a Celebration of Life service to be held at 7pm, Pastor Janet Richards, officiating. Continuing with COVID-19 precautions, all attending will be asked to follow proper social distancing protocol and masks are required.
