Cora Lee Asbury, 84 of Massillon quietly passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2014. She was born in Pocahontas, VA on September 13, 1929 and was the daughter of the late John Frank and Bessie Ruth (Dalton) Reedy. Cora was a beautician, who worked out of her home. She taught at the Massillon Baptist College and was involved with the Children and Teen Ministries at the Massillon Baptist Temple for many years and more recently at Anchor Baptist Church where she was a member. She and her husband enjoyed boating, camping and traveling. She was a member of the Massillon Woman's Club. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Clarence Asbury in 2001 and her sisters, June Whitehead, Claris Gravely, Bonnie Willard and Ruth Lawley and her brother Luther Reedy She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Vicky and Tim Kandle, her granddaughter, Lee Anne Yancey and her husband Kurt, her great grandchildren, Jack and Rose Yancey and her brother Everett (Jenny) Reedy. A service to commemorate the life of Cora Lee Asbury will take place on Monday at 12 Noon at Anchor Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Brookfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home from 2-4 P.M. and on Monday from 11:30-12:00 noon at the church. The family wishes to thank all of the caring staff at Shady Lawn Health Care Center and Dr. Steven Murray for the compassionate care given to our mother and grandmother.
