September 21, 1927 — December 24, 2018

Connie M. East, 91, passed away following an extended illness on December 24, 2018. She was born in Massillon on September 21, 1927 to the late George and Clotilda (Whitman) Scharon. Connie was a 1945 graduate of Washington High School and received her Associates of Arts from Stark State College; Connie worked for Miller Sales, Best Products, modeled for Talbots and was a food demonstrator for Giant Eagle. She was a past member of the Massillon Women’s Club and St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She loved to cook, travel and decorate. She is survived by her children, Joyce (Tony) Salapack of Massillon and Jay Johnson of London, England; three grandchildren, Ashley and Dannielle Salapack and Natalie Johnson; two great-grandchildren, Layla and Marley; sister, Mary Lou Williams of Chicago, IL; and many nieces and nephews. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth East; a son, Jeffery Johnson; a grandson, Nicholas Johnson; three brothers, Joe, John and Robert Scharon; and a sister, Ruth Baumgardner. Friends may call from 9:30am -11am on Saturday, January 5, 2019 in the Paquelet Funeral Home followed by a Memorial service at 11: 00am, Pastor Robert Moffitt, officiating.
