Clyde S. “Sam” Johnson, age 78 of Massillon, died Monday, September 11, 2006 at the Hanover House, He was born on November 23, 1927 in Gnadenhutten, OH and was one of 5 children to the late Victor & Alta (Kail) Johnson. He was a Massillon resident for most of his life. He retired from Republic Steel. Sam had also served Massillon as a Police officer in the 1950’s, had operated Mobil Engine Supply and was a champion Go-Cart Driver, earning hundreds of trophies. He enjoyed watching his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren grow and succeed in life’s endeavors. Along with his parents and brothers and sisters, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn in 1981. He is survived by his children, Karen (Terry) Brahler of Sandusky, OH, Sarah (Diane Miller) Novak of Chataqua, NY and Victor (Peggi) Johnson of Canton, 8 grandchildren, Heather, Molly, Sadie, Abby, Becca, Samantha, Christian & Matthew, 2 great grandchildren Ben & Drew and his dearest friend, Bonnie Hain. Sam’s family would like to thank the entire staff at the Hanover House for all of the love, care and attention they provided for him over the past several years. They truly became a part of his family. Friends may call at the Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home on Wednesday (TONIGHT) from 6-8 P.M. with a prayer service to follow. A committal service will take place at the chapel at Calvary Cemetery on Thursday at 2:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Sam’s name to the Stark County Humane Society.
