Clinton Otis Bodiford departed this life Sunday morning September 18, at 6:30A.M. at his home with his wife and family by the bedside. He had been ill for about a year and seriously ill for the past four months. Clinton was born November 20, 1941 in Luverne, Alabama to the union of Willie T. and Willie Jean Bodiford. The family relocated to Massillon when he was seven months old. Having lived in Massillon all of his life, he was a product of the city school system graduating in 1959 as an honor student from Washington High School. On February 1, 1964, Clinton married Mamie L. Arrington and they became life partners until his death. Two children, a son Kurt Alan and Kelly Anne were born to this union. In 1961 he was employed by the Timken Roller Bearing Company of Canton and graduated from both their Machinist Apprenticeship Program and their Management Institute. He was preceded in death by his dear mother, Willie Jean, and a dearly beloved brother, Theopolis. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mamie; a son, Kurt (Lynette) of Florida; a daughter, Kelly (Rev. C.L.) Banks of Massillon; a brother, David (Donna) of Columbus; two beloved grandchildren, Klarke and Jackson Banks of Massillon, his father, Willie T. Bodiford; uncle, R. B. Bodiford of Troy, AL; aunts, Ira M. Kelly of Detroit, MI, Oralee Benjamin of Massillon and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A Celebration of Clinton's Life will be 11 AM Saturday at Peoples Baptist Church (701 17th St. S.E., Canton, OH 44707). Friends may call Friday from 6-8 PM at the Church and from 10 AM until the time of the service on Saturday. Memorials can be made to the Kelly A. Bodiford Scholarship Fund at the Charter One Bank on Federal Avenue in Massillon or the American Cancer Society.
