Clarice M. Johnson

Clarice M. "Marie" Johnson, 91 of Massillon, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2016. She was born on April 24, 1924 in Louisville, KY and was the daughter of the late Archie and Clarice (Rodgers) Ladd. Marie was a seamstress at the Massillon J.C. Penney's as well as the former Kanner's Men's Clothing Store. Marie was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, baking, fishing, reading and playing cards with her friends. She was a faithful member of the Canton Baptist Temple. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Johnson, with whom she was married for 70 years. Her brother Archie Ladd, her sisters, Alma Ladd and Wilma Parsons, and her son in law, Kenneth Delaney, also preceded her in death. Marie is survived by her daughters, Linda (Walt) Dayton and Phyllis (Clifford) Wallon, her grandchildren, Michelle (Tom) Kohli, Beth (Jeff) Fink, Ken (Kristine) Delaney and Bryan Delaney and her great grandchildren, Ryan, Courtney, Jenna, Jacob, Brooklyn, Brianne, Kate and Andrew. In keeping with Marie's wishes, a private family remembrance will take place. There are no calling hours. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband Jim at Brookfield Cemetery. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staffs at Chapel Hill Community and Mercy Hospice for the care and kindness shown to Marie during her stay.
