Clara Jean Swint

Mrs. Clara J. Swint, age 94 passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 following a lengthy illness at her residence in Canton, Ohio. She was born to the late Prince and Ella (Danzy) Arnold in Thomasville, Alabama. She lived most of her life in the Canton area. She became a minister at the Church of the Living God Pillar Ground and Truth in Massillon, and was a member of Mount Nebo Holiness Church in Canton and worked on the church board. She then went back to school to obtain her GED then from there became a direct nurse, working for Dr. C.V. Smith for many years. Then she became the owner of her own group nursing home. Clara had a strong faith in God and tried to help out others as best as she could. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by 11 brothers, Aaron, Samson, Leguster, Jake, Peter, David, William, Hoses, Moses, Freddie and Grover; 4 sisters, Ambry Hudson, Lillie C. Brown, Willie I. Price, and Bernice. She is survived by her husband, John E. Swint ; daughter, Ora L. (Merthy) Williams; granddaughter, Davora C. Williams, nephew she raised as her own son, Evie Hudson, Jr. all of Canton, Ohio. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews to cherish her memory. A Celebration of Clara’s life will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 12 p.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Louisville.
