Christy “Chris” C. Nichols, 81, of Massillon, passed away into the arms of his Savior Jesus Christ, on March 3, 2023. He was born on December 4, 1941 in Wooster, Ohio to the late Cecil and Ada (Nussbaum) Nichols.
He attended Dalton High School and proudly served in the United States Army in Vietnam.
Chris worked at Gerstenslager in Wooster, Orrville Milk Co. and retired from the U.S. postal service after 30+ years.
He was also a devoted member of Calvary Chapel for many years.
In addition to his parents, Chris was preceded in death by his daughter, Trina Haught and brothers Jerald (JoAnn) and Eric (Sue) Nichols.
His family was always his number one priority in his life.
Chris is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sharon (Piper) Nichols; son Trent Nichols; son-in-law James Haught; grandchildren Elsie, Lucas, and Daniel Haught; as well as many relatives and friends.
He was an avid sports fan who loved his Indians, Ohio State and Cleveland Browns. Chris was also so proud of the many gardens he grew through the years, his impressive Christmas village that grew every year and had started a huge train set-up as well.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 7th from 5-7 p.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 8th at 11 am at the funeral home with calling hours beginning at 10 am until the time of service.
Chris will be laid to rest at Brookfield cemetery where military rites will be rendered.
