Christopher Beau Picot, age 36, passed away unexpectedly on July 8th at his home in Washington, D.C. He was an independent contractor and proud owner of District Soundproofing. Born in Massillon, Christopher was a 2004 graduate of Washington High School, and studied horticulture, construction management and civil engineering at OSU. During his time at OSU, he founded a non-profit and created wildflower gardens in low-income neighborhoods. Christopher was a hard worker, an insightful observer, a voracious reader and a great storyteller. He also traveled widely in the U.S. and Central America. He was the much-loved son of Leslie Picot and the late Lou Picot and beloved brother of Nathan (Kelsey) Picot. Chris was Papa to his beautiful son Oliver, uncle to Michael, Katie, Patton and Gabriel, and a treasured nephew to Mark and Pam Poljak, David Poljak, Dianne and Bob Green, Dan and Sharon Poljak, Mitch (Anna) Gruber, Larry Gruber and Gayle Allyson. Chris was also a special grandson to Lona Gruber. He is survived by cousins Dane, Lynae, Jason, Jesse, Luke and Jonathon, as well as many friends throughout the U.S. A memorial service will be held on Saturday July 24th at 2 p.m. at Central Presbyterian Church, 47 2nd St. NE, Massillon, Ohio 44646. Calling hours will begin at 1 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers and in memory of Christopher’s love for reading, memorial contributions may be made to the Massillon Public Library, 208 Lincoln Way E., Massillon, Ohio 44646.
