Christina L. “Christie” (Guarino) Burkett

Christina L. “Christie” (Guarino) Burkett, age 34 of Jackson Township , went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 17, 2010. At the time of her passing, she was surrounded by her loving family. Christie was born on July 3, 1976 in Canton , Ohio to Fred and Sheila (O’Neal) Guarino. She graduated from Tuslaw High School in 1994 and went on to the University of Akron earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in English. Earlier in her life, Christie was involved with the Girl Scouts and Job’s Daughters, where she was a past Honored Queen. At Tuslaw High School she was active in track and played the flute in the band. She worked in medical records and scheduling for MedCorp of Stark County and was a partner of Rivertree Christian Church. She loved reading, writing, and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Frank E. Burkett III, whom she married on August 9, 1997, her parents, Fred and Sheila Guarino of Massillon, her brother Brian (Barbara) Guarino of Cape Cod, MA, her father-in-law, Frank E. (Bonnie) Burkett, Jr. and her mother-in-law, Cindy Nutter, her sister-in-law, Dr. Amy (Don Olszewski) Burkett, her stepbrother-in-law, Eric (Mona) Nutter and step sister-in- law, Jackie (Jamie) Soles and three nieces and three nephews, Sandra and Paul Guarino, Madeline and Carter Nutter, and Angel and Dustin Soles and many friends who loved her. A service to celebrate her life will take place on Sunday, September 26th at 3:30 P.M. at First Baptist Church, 20 –6th Street, S.E., Massillon, Ohio 44646. Dr. Roger Alber will officiate. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 1:30-3:30 P.M.
