Christian R. 'Rudy' Grunder

Christian R. “ Rudy,” Grunder, 77, passed away Feb. 9, 2011, in Massillon. Rudy was born August 1,1933, in Apple Creek, Ohio to Christ and Mary(Church) Grunder. On March 2,1957, he was married to Barbara Greenfelder, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage. He was a proud graduate of Massillon High School, Class of 1952, and played for the Tigers, as well as the University of Pittsburgh Panthers and the Massillon All-Stars Semi Pro Football team. He retired as a mechanic after 44 years of employment with Rays Central Service. He was a member of AARP and the VFW 3124. He was a Veteran serving in the US Army, having served with the 82nd Airborne Division during the Korean Conflict. Survivors include his wife, Barbara, their children, Rick (Debbie) Grunder, Christy (Kirt) Price and Stacy Brown (Paul Lapikas). Five grandchildren, AJ Grunder, Bo Grunder, Ashley Brown, Gabe Price and Garrett Price. His brother John (Tuffy) Grunder and sister, Elizabeth(Betty) Grunder, a Sister in law Karen(Mike) Jorden, and special friends, the Indorf family and his friends at John Georges, (The Westside City Council). Gathering of friends will be from 6-8 pm February 11, 2011 at the Paquelet Funeral Home, with a Service of Remembrance, Saturday at 1:30 pm. A private burial will be at Brookfield Cemetery at a later date.
