Charles W. "Chuck" Smith, 84 of Massillon, passed away on February 25, 2015 at his home with his family at his side. He was born in Massillon on May 8, 1930 and was the son of the late Elmer and Mary (Lentz) Smith. He graduated from Washington High School in 1948 and then went on to serve his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Chuck retired from Republic Steel where he was a metallurgical supervisor. He was a member of the Clinton Lodge #47, F. & A.M. for almost 60 years. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his step father Joe Brownlee, Sr. and his sister Gloria Litten. He is survived by his wife, Norma (Snodgrass) Smith, his daughters, Jill Smith, Beverly Schenz, Janice (Jody) Stevenson and Penny (Michael) Lewandowski, his son, Dale (Debora) Smith, 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. In keeping with Chuck's wishes there will be no service, but a gathering to celebrate the life of Charles Smith will take place at Central Presbyterian Church on Saturday from 1-4 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his name to either Community Hospice or the James Cancer Center at The Ohio State University.
