Charles R. 'Skip' Rea

Charles R. "Skip" Rea, 82, of Jackson Township, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2024. Skip was born on August 26, 1942 in Akron, Ohio the son of the late John and Ethel Vera (Sloan) Rea.

Skip grew up in Akron, Ohio where he graduated from Buchtel High School and received his Bachelor's Degree in Business at the University of Akron. He married his wife, Glenna in 1963. Skip began his home building career in 1968 and flourished as one of the counties most respected home builders. Skip was well known for his exemplary customer satisfaction and his good natured personality. He never met a stranger and made everyone feel welcomed. 

He will also be remembered for his love of telling stories, whether they were factual or not. Entertainment value was most important to Skip. Skip and Glenna raised Arabian Show Horses at their farm, Sunrea Arabian Farm, for many years. Skip enjoyed helping Glenna with her passion of growing giant pumpkins. The enjoyment of spending time with his grandchildren was truly a highlight of his life. He never missed the opportunity to drop off donuts and tell them a good story.

He is survived by his loving wife, Glenna Rea, with whom he shared 61 years of marriage; children, Jeff (Brenda) Rea, and Krista Rea; grandchildren, Megan Rea, Sean Rea, Heath Rea, Spencer Rea, and Kasey Rea; brother, Don (Darlene) Rea; sisters, Nancy Forester, and Vicki (Ed) Hoover; and numerous nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 from 4-8 pm at Church of the Lakes: 5944 Fulton Dr NW, Canton, OH 44718 and on Thursday, December 12, 2024 from 12-1 pm, with a Celebration of Skip's life at 1 pm.
